The T-38 Talon has flown with the USAF since 1961 as the world's first supersonic trainer.
The Talon has accumulated more than 13 million flight hours and has trained more than 70,000 US Airmen.
There have been 1,146 T-38s built and as of 2017, the USAF had ~500 aircraft in it's inventory.
The T-38C variant is the current variant being used for pilot training. The C variant has had numerous upgrades from the original aircraft to include propulsion modifications and redesigned intakes.
These heritage schemes pay homage to the over 50 year history of the T-38 in USAF service.
